XPS is Microsoft's original format from Windows Vista and 7; OXPS is the ECMA-388 OpenXPS variant that Windows 8 and later write by default. Both extensions are accepted, can be mixed in one batch, and produce the same kind of PDF.
Microsoft no longer installs the XPS Viewer by default, and macOS, Linux, and phones never supported the format. Converting to PDF makes the document readable in any browser or PDF reader.
Yes. Page dimensions, vector graphics, fonts, and images are carried into the PDF without resampling, so a document printed to XPS at high resolution keeps that resolution in the PDF.
Text in the XPS is written to the PDF as text with its fonts rather than as a picture of the page, so you can select, search, and copy it in a PDF reader.

No. The PyMuPDF engine is loaded into your browser as WebAssembly the first time you convert, and nothing is installed on your system.

No. The PyMuPDF engine runs locally in your browser, so the XPS file is parsed and the PDF written on your own device. Old corporate or government documents never leave your machine.
