Word processor documents saved by Microsoft Works, the office suite bundled with consumer PCs in the late 1990s and 2000s. Files from Kingsoft's WPS Office use the same .wps extension but are a different format, and this converter is built around the Microsoft Works one; for WPS Office files, save as .docx from that program and use Word to PDF.
No. The conversion runs on a LibreOffice engine loaded into your browser, which reads the Works format on its own. That's the main reason to use this tool: Works was discontinued in 2009, and current versions of Word no longer open its files.
Text, basic formatting such as bold, italic, alignment, and paragraph spacing, and embedded images come through. Anything more elaborate may render differently, so check the PDF before you discard the original.
The LibreOffice engine (roughly 75 MB) has to download and start before the first file converts. It stays loaded for the rest of your session, so converting a folder of old documents goes quickly after the first one.
No. Only .wps word processor files are accepted; other Works file types are rejected at upload. For other legacy word processor formats, there are separate tools such as WPD to PDF for WordPerfect files.
Yes. Add as many as you like and convert them in one batch; each becomes a PDF with the original name, and two or more files download together as wps-to-pdf.zip.
No. The engine runs inside your browser and the .wps file is read and converted on your own computer. Decades-old letters, school papers, and financial records never leave your device.
